Swansea won the match fair and square, but that little lunatic has completely ruined their victory. Hazard made no contact and should be cleared of all blame and of his red card. The ref wouldn’t have added any time on for that little weirdo’s cheating. Hazard tried for several seconds to wrestle the ball from him, then did a little toe poke to free the ball – video evidence shows this clearly. Too add insult to injury he then pretended Hazard had kicked him in the ribs – which could’ve gotten Hazard a criminal assault charge, let alone a ban! Only the type of referees bought by Man U would claim that the psycho brat’s dramatics were real. Not that you needed that proof – any idiot could see he collapsed onto the ball for no reason and then squirmed about on top of it for ages. Use your eyes and engage your brain! That little psycho was the spoilt brat son of one of the (I think) Swansea executives and he Tweeted about #TimeWasting. Sometimes a safety is awarded in the case of a penalty on the offensive football team in the end zone such as holding.Yet again it amazes me how stupid football fans are.ĭo you really think Hazard could miss the ball with a toe punt from 10cm away? He didn’t: A safety is also awarded if a dropped or blocked punt goes through the kicking team's end zone. For example, if the football is on the 30 yard line, it would be a 47 yard field goal attempt.Ī safety occurs when the defense tackles an offensive player behind their goal line. This means you add 17 yards to the line of scrimmage marker to get the field goal length. In order to figure the length of a field goal, you have to add 10 yards for the distance of the End Zone and another 7 yards for the snap of the ball back to the holder to the line of scrimmage. It can be attempted at any time, but is usually attempted on fourth down with the football inside the opponent's 35 yard line. If they really need 2 points, then they will take the chance.Ī field goal is when the place kicker kicks the ball through the uprights. Most teams attempt the extra point until late in the game. This is considered more difficult and risky versus the extra point. If they can advance the football across the goal, they get 2 points. In this case the team tries to advance the ball across the goal line like with a touchdown. Like with the extra point, the ball is placed on the 2 yard line (NFL) or 3 yard line (college). This is sometimes called a PAT or Point After Touchdown.Ī two point conversion can be attempted after a touchdown. The ball is placed on the 2 yard line (NFL) or 3 yard line (college) and the team attempts a play to kick the ball through the uprights. Once the ball has broken the plane on a run, then a touchdown is scored and what happens afterwards doesn't matter.Īfter scoring a touchdown the offensive football team is also awarded the chance for an extra point or two point conversion.Īn extra point can be attempted after a touchdown. Players must have possession of the football and it must "break the plane" of the goal line. Players score a touchdown when they advance the ball across the other team's goal line into the end zone. Touchdowns are the primary goal in football and they score the most points. Here is a list of the types of scores possible: Most of the scoring is done by field goals and touchdowns. In football there are a few ways to score. "I've been involved in projects that have been making work easier and safer for people with automation. The ground spices flavor the roasted apples through their core and have a stronger aroma than the whole spices while the whole cinnamon sticks and star anise pods couldn't be prettier floating in this drink! The final step before serving is adding in those sweet, tender roasted apples and cranberry juice cocktail. It's important here to use both ground and whole spices, so don't skip either. Think: cozy cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, and star anise. This non-alcoholic Christmas drink is essentially apple cider infused with fresh orange, lemon, roasted apples, and lots of spice. It's the most delicious way to warm up after a cold night of caroling! But today, wassail refers to the cozy, hot holiday beverage that you'll find here, too. Wassailing can also simply mean Christmas caroling door to door. In England, it also describes a 12th night of Christmas gathering in fruit orchards where dancing, drinking, and singing encourage spirits to provide a good harvest in the coming year. First appearing in the English poem Beowulf in the 8th century, the word has been used as a salutation or toast to good health. The term "wassail" has multiple meanings. Of course, a splash of bourbon or brandy adds a definite kick! This recipe holds fast to tradition with whole bobbing apples and a multitude of warming spices, plus a festive twist using apple cider and cranberry juice in place of the alcohol. Early versions of this Christmas punch included warmed wine, mead, or ale combined with roasted apples, sugar, and spice. A part of England's Christmas tradition for centuries, wassail is a scrumptious spiced cider practically begging to be sipped beside the fireplace. There's just nothing better than a Dutch oven simmering with apple cider, fresh oranges, and cinnamon sticks to make your home smell holiday-ready. Too long in the estimation of Harper and his teammates. I mean baseball is a game where you don’t forget and you can hold grudges for a long, long time.” Ben Margot / AP Photo by Ben Margot / AP I know he took (Strickland) deep in the playoffs a couple of times and he probably took exception to that. “What’s a man supposed to do? He’s not a punching bag, he’s human with emotions. I mean, that’s the prime time to hit somebody if you’re going to hit them, it looked like it was intentional to me,” he said. “We were ahead 2-0, two outs and nobody on base. Nationals manager Dusty Baker had no doubt about Strickland’s intent. It’s on his finger and he’s able to look at it every single night.” “I don’t know why he’s thinking about it. Like I said, it was three years ago, over a thousand days, I guess,” Harper said. “I wasn’t sure what was going on, but I think (the Giants) were definitely shocked at the situation, shocked that he would do something like that three years later,” Harper said. Harper watched the second shot sail down the line, in Game 4, and glared at the reliever as he rounded the bases. In the 2014 NL Division Series, Harper hit two home runs off Strickland. Harper attributed a scratch to Nationals third baseman Anthony Rendon pulling him away from the brawl. No injuries were reported in either clubhouse. Harper and Strickland were both ejected, and are certain to face punishment from Major League Baseball. Three Giants players forcefully dragged Strickland from the middle of the pack all the way into the dugout, while a teammate held back Harper. “I was trying to get in there to break everyone up.” Ben Margot / AP Photo by Ben Margot / AP “I’m OK, but why is that news?” Morse said. Giants teammates Michael Morse and Jeff Samardzija collided hard as they tried to get between the two fighters. “I was trying to go after him, with the helmet or with myself, just doing what I needed to do keep it going, I guess,” Harper said. Harper punched Strickland in the head as the benches and bullpen emptied. The 6-foot-4 Strickland hit Harper in the face, then they broke apart for a moment before squaring off again. Harper’s eyes were wide as he flung his helmet - it wasn’t close to Strickland, it might’ve slipped, helmets are hard to throw accurately - and they started swinging away. “So it was a little dangerous to get in there sometimes.” “There were some big guys tumbling around out there,” he said. He said he wasn’t thinking about that accident, but was concerned about injuries. Posey got a concussion last month from a beaning. “Strick and him are the only ones that can answer why” the fight happened, Posey said. Giants star catcher Buster Posey stuck near the plate when Harper bolted, and stayed clear of the fracas as things escalated. No one got in Harper’s way as he rushed the mound. “My head was on a swivel, as quick as I could to not get taken out by somebody on their team or anything like that,” he said. The four-time All-Star pointed his bat at Strickland, yelled at him and took off. This flashpoint came in their first matchup since then - with two outs in the eighth inning, none on and Washington ahead 2-0, Strickland hit Harper with the first pitch, a 98 mph fastball. “I can see how that stands in people’s minds,” Strickland said. The two players have a history, stemming from two home runs Harper hit off Strickland in the 2014 playoffs. “You either go to first base or you go after him and I decided to go after him.” “You never want to get suspended or anything like, but sometimes you just got to go and get them and can’t hesitate,” Harper said. Stretchy, lightweight underwear adds support and comfort. You want your panties to move with you, not hold you back. Merino wool and bamboo are other good options, as they’re naturally breathable and quick-drying. Breathable fabrics like cotton or nylon allow airflow to keep you cool. Thick fabrics may cause sweating and discomfort. Seams can sometimes show through yoga pants, so hemless underwear will ensure you don’t show any lines. Wash in a laundry bag, lay out to dry and they last and last. The panties also include a patented “vanishing edge” technology with silicone at the leg openings to help them stay put without creating panty lines. The waist is lace while the body of the underwear is a breathable, moisture-wicking fabric. If you want underwear you can grab just as easily for a night out as for a workout, Soma’s Microfiber with Lace Hipster is a good choice. Plus, many of them are designed for exercise, which means they’re made with performance features like sweat-wicking, quick-drying, and odor-resistant fabrics. With the number of undergarments on the market, it can be difficult to know if you’re picking the right ones. With an edgeless design, paper-thin fabric, and just enough coverage, these highly-rated pairs of no-show underwear can save you the next time you hit the gym in your yoga pants or need something to slip on beneath a tight dress for a night out. That’s where seamless underwear comes in. You can wear a thong to avoid panty lines, but that’s not always the most comfortable (or healthiest) option. Anyone who owns yoga pants or running pants knows all too well: The stretchy (but oh-so-comfy) fabric can reveal all sorts of lines. Finding the perfect-fitting pair of underwear can be tough enough, but add yoga pants to the equation, and you have a serious struggle. The hole is about 250 light-years wide and its presence is still something of a mystery. One of its most distinctive features, however, is the dark, starry gap called a “superbubble,” visible in this Hubble Space Telescope image in the upper central region. N44 is a complex nebula filled with glowing hydrogen gas, dark lanes of dust, massive stars, and many populations of stars of different ages. Their observations could help explain how clusters like NGC 6544 change over time. Instead of matching up sources to a pulsar, however, astronomers used Hubble to search for the counterparts of faint X-ray sources. The second observation which contributed data to this image was also designed to find the visible counterparts of objects detected at other electromagnetic wavelengths. This pulsar rotates particularly quickly, and astronomers turned to Hubble to help determine how this object evolved in NGC 6544. A pulsar is the rapidly spinning remnant of a dead star, emitting twin beams of electromagnetic radiation like a vast astronomical lighthouse. The first observation was designed to find a visible counterpart to the radio pulsar discovered in NGC 6544. This image of NGC 6544 combines data from two of Hubble’s instruments, the Advanced Camera for Surveys and Wide Field Camera 3, as well as two separate astronomical observations. This cluster of tightly bound stars lies more than 8,000 light-years from Earth and is, like all globular clusters, a densely populated region of tens of thousands of stars. Image credit: NASA, ESA & A.The teeming stars of the globular cluster NGC 6544 glisten in this image from the Hubble Space Telescope. The competition is now closed, and the list of winners, including André’s image of Messier 77, is available here. Hidden Treasures is an initiative to invite astronomy enthusiasts to search the Hubble archive for stunning images that have never been seen by the general public. The Hubble Space Telescope is a project of international cooperation between ESA and NASA. The dust lanes stretching across this image appear as a rusty, brown-red colour due to a phenomenon known as reddening the dust absorbs more blue light than red light, enhancing its apparent redness.Ī version of this image won second place in the Hubble’s Hidden Treasures Image Processing Competition, entered by contestant Andre van der Hoeven. These baby stars shine strongly, ionising nearby gas which then glows a deep red colour as seen in the image above. Dotted along each arm are knotty red clumps - a signal that new stars are forming. This region of a galaxy alone, although comparatively small, can be tens of thousands of times brighter than a typical galaxy.Īlthough no competition for the intense centre, Messier 77’s spiral arms are also very bright regions. Material is dragged towards this black hole and circles around it, heating up and glowing strongly. Strong radiation like this is known to come from the heart of Messier 77 - caused by a very active black hole that is around 15 million times the mass of our Sun. It is the closest and brightest example of a particular class of galaxies known as Seyfert galaxies - galaxies that are full of hot, highly ionised gas that glows brightly, emitting intense radiation. Now, however, it is firmly categorised as a barred spiral galaxy, with loosely wound arms and a relatively small central bulge. It was misclassified again when it was subsequently listed in the Messier Catalogue as a star cluster. It is a real star among galaxies, with more papers written about it than many other galaxies put together!ĭespite its current fame and striking swirling appearance, the galaxy has been a victim of mistaken identity a couple of times when it was initially discovered in 1780, the distinction between gas clouds and galaxies was not known, causing finder Pierre Méchain to miss its true nature and label it as a nebula. Also known as NGC 1068, it is one of the most famous and well-studied galaxies. Messier 77 is a galaxy in the constellation of Cetus, some 45 million light-years away from us. The patches of red across this image highlight pockets of star formation along the pinwheeling arms, with dark dust lanes stretching across the galaxy’s energetic centre. The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope has captured this vivid image of spiral galaxy Messier 77, one of the most famous and well-studied galaxies in the sky. |
